baby steps

Liam was four months old when the photo was taken.

At the end of every yoga session the teacher says "let's thank the divine spirit for all the blessings in our lives." I like that because it reminds me to appreciate the small things (which are really the big things) and live in the present. At night, as I lay on the bed with baby feet tucked into the soft parts of my belly, my husband a few feet away and the dog jammed in somewhere in the mix, I sometimes get overwhelmed with gratitude to the "divine sprit."

On a less "new-agey" note, today Liam got the courage to let go of the table he was holding on to and walk a few steps towards a toy on the floor. I knew that he could do it because I had let go of his hand as he was walking, but this time it was all him. My baby's getting big. He also learned to crawl on his hands and knees last week.

checking out some nice boats

Another pleasant day together with Anna and Philip! Today we went down to Fort Lauderdale to have lunch and look at some nice yachts... they were big indeed.

wedding memories

Sometimes, it's nice to think back to our wedding (or blessing rather) in Sweden. It was a wonderful day and a memory for life! I'm so happy I found the right partner in life, he is a great man and father (even though he drives me nuts sometimes ;-)

nice calm week

This week we haven't done anything extraordinary, just had a nice week together with friends. On Monday, our true companions Anna and Philip came down to visit and we had lunch at Las Olas. Wednesday, we went up to Boca to visit them. Otherwise, just yoga and we went to play in the neighbor's pool.

Viveka's birthday

This weekend we're celebrating Viveka's birthday, both Saturday with a dinner at my house and tomorrow with a bbq at Viveka's. It was very nice as usual. However, Viveka almost missed her birthday party because she took a nap after volunteering all day. She's still pretty young so she can't blame age...

Weekend in Boston

We had a wonderful weekend together with Liam's cousins, aunties and uncles up in Boston. For the most part, the weather was gorgeous. It was very nice seeing everyone!

Walking the Red Carpet

As we went out to the Hard Rock cafe to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa Bagley, we noticed that they were holding the Latino Grammys there. Imagine our surprise when the photographers wanted us to walk the red carpet! I said no repeatedly since I didn't feel "done up" enough, but finally they convinced us. Liam was concerned how the pictures would come out because he hadn't had time to have his hair done, but luckily it looked good.

Second and third pic: Liam spent some time with Grandma by the pool, and somehow managed to charm an older chick.

Bottom: In honor of the seminole tribe he practiced his indian call.

Grandparents visiting

Today Grandma and Grandpa Bagley and Aunty Jo and Uncle Rich visited from Naples. We met up at Swedish headquarters IKEA and had lunch. The rest of the day we just hung out at home and had a delicious pork roast for dinner.

Sunday

We started out the day with a jog. I try to run 5-6 times a week like I used to before Liam. It gives you a natural high and energy to manage an active 8 month-old. After Liam's nap we headed down to Fort Lauderdale beach only to conclude that Liam is like his mom and dad in that he isn't particularly interested. On the way back we stopped at Gran Forno, an italian cafe at Las Olas. In the afternoon, Johanna, Liam and I went to Borders for coffee. It must be the Borders with the best view in the country, overlooking the intercoastal waterway.

Saturday at the Spa

We started out the day by going to the park to play around a bit. Later, Johanna and I went to get hot stone massages at the Contour spa at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was lovely and I think the masseuse got some really big knots out. Afterwards Johanna came over to get her Liam fill. She is one of Liam's Godmothers, the other title went to Jason's sister Dawn. My brother Nils is the Godfather.

Tuesday at IKEA

We had a great Tuesday together with Philip and Anna at IKEA. As usual, you think you're not going to buy anything but you still come home with a bunch of stuff. The meatballs were nice and I ate every single one of them.
