Happy fathersday to Jason! We're so happy that Liam has such a great daddy. Liam painted Jason a nice card and he also got a gift. Right now he's at the NY Yankees-Marlins game with a friend.
A lot has happened with Liam's speech development this week. He's been able to combine words for a while but he hasn't used his abilities much until the last few days. It's nice to see that he has a good sense of humor. The other morning, he was whining and nagging me for an orange until I gave in. As I was peeling it, he said "bra mamma" (good mamma) and laughed. Today he's been yapping all day. He picked up two stones and labeled them "liiiten sten" (little stone) with a tiny voice and then a "STOOR STEEN" (big stone) with a deep voice. Then he announced that the stones were going to swim in a puddle and afterwards they were going for a train ride.
He is also likes to play pretend. He loves to play that his soft animals are talking - mostly they are just saying "hi" to each other or hugging but if you play one role he'll take on the other. Today in the tub, he played that his plastic pig was steering his boat.
However, he's not been too fond of the classes I've enrolled him in this week. One class was way to intense for him, I believe. They had very loud music and there were many kids there. He freaked out completely so I had to take him outside. Two days later Jason and I took him to another calmer class. It went better even though he was whining and tried to leave the whole time. At least we could distract him until class was over. So in other words he needs some practice in that department. I think it's good that he learns to participate in structured activities with a bunch of noisy kids.
